How to update firmware using Windows PC?

If your UO Smart Beam Laser firmware version is 1.1.6 and up, you can do this firmware update on any windows. Please use the USB cable included in the box for this hard-wired update. Download the PDF file for instructions. If the update is unsuccessful, please contact us at cs@kdcusa.com. Click here to download PDF.

Charging the UO

We recommend using the charger that came with your UO.  A green light on the power button indicates the battery is fully charged. UO battery life lasts up to 2 hours. While running the device, it is possible to charge. 

Turning On and Off

Simply press down the power button for 3 seconds to turn it on. To turn off UO, disconnect the device connection (if it is connected) and turn off UO by pressing the power button for 3 seconds. If UO is on, but not connected to any device within couple of minutes, it will automatically shut down.

Changing the Mode

There are two different modes for UO. It must be in Media Sharing (DLNA) mode to connect with an iOS device. Look for the words Media Sharing or DLNA on the main screen to check if you are in the correct mode. UO must be in Media Mirroring (Miracast) mode to connect with an Android device. Look for the words Media Mirroring or Miracast or Android robot to check if you are in the right mode. Switch to different mode by pressing the power button twice.

Connecting Android phone and tablet (Samsung, LG, etc.) Wirelessly

Set UO on Media Mirroring (Miracast) mode. On your Android device, find screen-mirroring feature from the setting such as Smart View, AllShare Cast, or Miracast, etc. If not connected automatically, search for a device and connect to 'SMARTBEAMLASER-XXXXXX'. Click here to watch the video.

Connecting iOS (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) Wirelessly

Set UO on Media Sharing (DLNA) mode. On your iOS device, go to 'Setting > Wi-Fi > SMARTBEAMLASER-XXXXXX'. Slide up the menu to turn on Airplay. Connect Airplay > SMARTBEAMLASER-XXXXXX > Mirroring (slide to turn on). Your UO Smart Beam Laser firmware must have the latest update of 1.1.8. Click here to watch the video.

How to update UO Smart Beam Laser Firmware using an App

Download App (Search for SMARTBEAMLASER or CREMOTECH) on your phone or tablet and Set UO on Media Sharing (DLNA) mode. First, go to setting and connect Wi-Fi with SMARTBEAMLASER-XXXXXX. Open the App click Wi-Fi and search your Wi-Fi network. Once properly connected, it will identify the latest firmware version on the upgrade. Then, click ‘Upgrade’ to update the firmware to the latest. This may take up to 10 minutes depends on your Wi-Fi connectivity. Visit KDCUSA website to watch the video tutorial. How to update UO Smart Beam Laser Firmware with Wi-Fi

Set UO on Media Sharing (DLNA: Orange Color) mode and find your device ‘Setting > Wi-Fi > ‘SmartBeamLaser-XXXXX’. Open an internet window and type http://192.168.49.1 on the address bar. You will see the page with ‘Setting’, ‘Wi-Fi’ and ‘F/W Upgrade’ buttons. Search Wi-Fi, find your Wi-Fi, and enter password to connect. This procedure is for UO to connect Wi-Fi in your home or office. Once connected, go back to home page and click F/W Upgrade. This may take up to 10 minutes depends on your Wi-Fi connectivity. For Android wire connection

UO can be in either mode. You would need MHL and/or 5 to 11 pin adapter depends on your device. Some latest Samsung Galaxy phones do not support MHL output allowing it to connect wirelessly through Smart View. Click here to download image.

For iOS wire connection

UO can be in either mode. You'd need a certified *micro HDMI cable and **Apple cable that can receive the HDMI male. For Apple TV, you only need a Micro HDMI cable. If projected screen only shows the 'United Object' logo, the problem maybe within the cable. We recommend getting the certified *micro HDMI cable from KDCUSA website. 
If it only shows ‘United Object’ logo, it is likely the cable issue and we recommend using the certified *micro HDMI cable from KDCUSA. Click here to watch the video. For Apple TV, you only need a Micro HDMI cable.

For other devices wire connection

UO can be in either mode: For windows computer, windows laptop, games console, camera, etc. you'd need a certified *micro HDMI cable. When connecting UO to computer or laptop, make sure to change the screen setting on your computer to 'duplicate' or 'extended'. If it only shows 'United Object' logo, it is likely the cable issue or your screen mode is not set to view the second monitor in which is UO. Click here to watch the video.

Bluetooth speaker connection

External Speaker can be used if a device that is paired up with UO can connect to the speaker. Click here to watch the video.

Volume control - Android

Press the power button to control the volume from mute to level 6.

Android volume control: Both UO and phone/tablet can control the volume. 

iOS Volume control: Both UO and phone/tablet can control if it's connected via Airplay (Wirelessly). If connected via cables, only UO volume is controllable, will not be controllable from an iPhone or iPad.

If UO gets frozen

Simply reset UO by pressing the reset button (a tiny hole next to the power button) using a pointy object like a pin or ballpoint pen.
